The 5th China International Small & Medium Enterprises Fair
CISMEF
From 2004 to 2007, the China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (CISMEF) has been successfully held for 4 sessions. Jointly sponsored by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the China Banking Regulatory Commission and the People's Government of Guangdong Province the CISMEF has attracted 830,000 visitors from 30 provinces in China and 70 countries worldwide. It has been greatly influential in the filed of convention and exhibition.
The CISMEF builds up a platform of ‘display, trade, communication and cooperation' for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), providing services such as “trade, purchasing, investment and financing guidance, project launching intermediate services and international communications” for SMEs. It is popular with Chinese and overseas SMEs as it provides as opportunity for Chinese SMEs to go global and those overseas to enter the huge Chinese market.
The 5 th CISMEF will be held from September 22 to 25, 2008 in Guangzhou International Conference and Exhibition Center . The fair is composed of nine pavilions for various industries namely, Electronics & IT Products, Household Electrical Appliances, Machinery & Equipment, Textiles & Garments, Footwear, Headgear, Cases & Bags, Toys & Crafts, Food & Medicine, Furniture & Illuminations, and Ceramics & Building Materials. Additionally, its sets up several pavilions with special features, like Investment Attraction for various Chinese provinces, Services for SMEs, Financial Services, Retail Chain Enterprises, Country of Honor, ASEM SMEs Communication and Cooperation, and International, Hong Kong Macau & Taiwan. With and exhibition area of 120,000 sqm and a capacity of 5,000 standard booths (4,000 for China SMEs and 1,000 for other countries & regions), the fair is expected to embrace over 250,000 exhibitors and buyers (guests) this year, making it the largest fair targeted at SMEs in China.
Pillar Industries
Guangdong Province , the forerunner of China 's reform and opening up, has become one of the largest industrial provinces in China , with its economic aggregate accounting for one eighth of that of the whole nation. Guangdong has accelerated and strengthened industrial restructuring in recent years. There are nine pillar industries in the province, namely, electronic information, household appliances, petrochemistry, textile, food and beverage, building materials, paper making, automobile, and medicine representing the economic power of Guangdong . Solid economic foundation and favorable investment environments in Guangdong bring abundant profits to investors.
Electronic Information
Nowadays, the annual volume of China 's electronic information industry has reached RMB 4 trillion, with the outputs of computers, mobile phones and TV sets ranking first all over the World. The scale of Guangdong 's electronic information industry has been ranking top for 15 consecutive years, accounting for one third of the nation's total. The peral River Delta economic zone has become the most important IT product manufacturing bases in China , and in the world at large.
Household Appliances and Machinery
The industry of machinery is one of the most important pillar industries in China , with the annual sales volume of over RMB 4 trillion. Taking the second place in China , the total production of Guangdong 's household appliances and machinery industry has reached RMB 500 billion. Guangdong is almost the most important export bases of the world, with its export of machinery ranking first in the country. A huge cluster of household appliances and machinery has been formed on the Pearl River Delta with Guangzhou , Shenzhen and Foshan as its center, covering the east and west wings of the province
Petrochemistry
The annual sales volume of China 's petrochemical industry has reached over RMB 3 trillion. The total production of the petrochemical industry in Guangdong ranks among the top in China , making up about 10% of the country's total, with the output volumes of many major products ranking among the top three. The production in this industry is mainly in coastal cities like Maominh, Guangzhou , Huizhou and Zhanjiang .
Textiles & Garments
China is the global manufacturing center of textiles and garments, which is the biggest contributor to China 's export. Guangdong is one of the most important textile manufacturing and export provinces, as well as the third biggest garment export base in the world. Its features its clustering, diversification, large scale and high output volume on this industry.
Food & Beverage
Food & beverage is one the most important traditional industries in China, and Guangdong is an important production and export base for the food and beverage industry, with its industrial scale and output volume ranking the top in the country, and its famous brands of food and beverage playing an important role in the Chinese market.
Building Materials
With the rapid economic growth in China , the building materials industry has been developing at a fast pace, with the annual increase reaching 30%. The total output volume in Guangdong 's building materials industry has topped RMB 150 billion, the 2 nd among other provinces in the country. It has prominent advantages in ceramics and cement production.
Papermaking
The papermaking industry in China has been rapidly developed in recent years w, with the annual increase reaching 20%. It is also one of the industries in Guangdong that are of great potential, as Guangdong is one of the major papermaking provinces.
Automobile
Presently, the output volume of China 's automobiles has reached RMB 7 million, making the country the third largest automobile producers in the World. Guangdong has a capacity of producing up to 800,000 automobiles, with Guangzhou as the center in this dustry, sedab cars as the priority, auto parts as the foundation, and passengers' vehicles, light-duty vehicles, special-purposed vehicles and motorcycles as the subsidiary
Medicine
The medicine industry is one of the new and high tech industries China is boosting, with the industrial volume topping RMB 400 billion. Guangdong is advantageous nationwide in many fields that feature hi-tech and high added value, such as the Chinese traditional medicine, bio-pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.
